| FLOAK Noun: the ultimate donation of one’s skills and resources. |
Here at Floak we believe it's
ABOUT time. About time we used our collective SKILLS to assist each other in promoting our charitable projects that impact positively on other people's lives. How? Simple. Through the donation of our most valuable possession; our
TIME.
Mark Gardner and Paul Hill started the concept in February 2009 to raise funds to build a school and accommodation block in Senegal to provide free of charge adult education to local residents. Since then we've adopted numerous other fundraising challenges from our circle of friends and will use this site to aid, support, advise and assist others in raising the profile of their independent projects.
By offering part of your spare time YOU can use YOUR skills, knowledge and contacts to help make other people’s lives better. Whether you're an event manager, plumber, artist, builder or web designer, there's a job for YOU helping out at one of our challenges.
Our opening project will benefit children, families and the local community in Senegal. In order to meet our goals we require assistance from a group of volunteers to help spread the workload and meet the various skill sets required to facilitate our venture. In summary, we'll need to design, build, decorate and - most importantly - FUND the school. We're running a trip to Senegal in February 2010 for the Project Senegal volunteers to witness first hand the school building developments and assist with the finishing touches to this exciting venture. Fancy doing something innovative, exciting and rewarding in
YOUR spare time?
Project Senegal is just one of a number of challenges that we'll be supporting and our team are here to help you move forward in the right direction. Fundraising is an essential part of our manifest and donations to our members' bizarre and adventurous challenges will fund the multitude of projects that are in place to benefit those less fortunate than ourselves.
